Here is an early photograph of the Quogue Beach and Dunes Circa 1900. The picture was taken from the tower of the Quogue Life Saving Station looking East. In the foreground are the outbuildings of the Station including the original “garage type” structure that served as the first Quogue Life Saving Station Circa 1849. During this period (1848-1886) an inlet existed one mile west of the Station into Quantuck Bay, making this outpost of the USLSS even more remote. (Quogue Life Saving Station Collection)
